Have the right problems been identified?

Incomplete and incorrect ‘requirements’ lead to a high probability of sub-optimal ‘system’ solutions being implemented, which may result in solving the wrong problems. Requirements is a global term and depending on the use context it may relate to expressing operational, technical, project, financial, or other requirements. Similarly, the term system is a construct used to identify a collection of interconnected components providing an outcome, which is not otherwise possible with a single component. The discipline of systems engineering, provides a framework to elicit and address requirements completeness. Identifying the correct requirements is fundamental to solving the right problems, which ultimately saves limited organisational resources. - Chanaka Aluwihare
